Date Night
Today Mom and I canned apple butter and pickled beans. It was so much fun. We made applesauce and strawberry sauce the other day and that got us in the mood for canning!
Rob took me to a university of Illinois football game. They were playing The Arizona State Sun Devils. It was a really good game, Arizona played better the second half and it could have gone either way for awhile.
We went to Ruby Tuesdays after and got a blonde. It's been forever since I've been to Rudy's and Blonde's were always my favorite thing there. Rob feels old because he was tired at 9:45p. But we had a great time.

Homecoming parade in Bloomington
Jade an T got out of school early and we headed to the parade. They did cartwheels in the street while they waited for the parade to come our way.

Family Update 10/17
This week Ally got sick for the first time. She's got a cold. Such a small thing but seems to wreak havoc on babies. They don't like not feeling well, breathing properly, or coughing. So they need lots of loving attention while they cope. We have some medicine for her because she gets frustrated while feeding because she can't breathe. (Bev hates when Robert refers to Ally's "nursing" as feeding because she pictures a little vampire with fangs "feeding". So Robert says it more now!) Robert also had a cold this week. (Please see the third line of this paragraph) That made doing his show a bit more challenging.
Robert also got to interview the Democrat Gubernatorial Candidate for Texas Governor, Bill White. He really likes him. Two days later he met current Governor Rick Perry. He thinks he upset the Governor a little while asking a question pertaining to overspending in Texas. Although Robert likes him "some", he likes Bill White more.
Beverly still isn't sure about this new job. She "officially" started work on Oct. 1 even though she's been working there for 3 weeks prior. The first paycheck was Oct.15, and she didn't get paid because "there was no more money in the account". Not good. Robert has been trying to help Bev out so this is a joint venture to run the Performing Arts Academy and the owner keeps assuring us that she'll have money to keep the doors open, but we're quite skeptical.
JT sprained his ankle in football practice a week and a half ago and it's slowly healing. Which is too bad because he really started to shine in practice, but now only runs half speed. The season is unofficially over for him despite the injury anyways because the last game is this coming Sunday and, of course, he won't be playing. T even said, "Hey, next week's game is on Sunday huh? I guess that means I can't play." On Saturday night Uncle Ryan & Jefra texted Robert to bring T to the Haunted Trail on Nelson Ranch Lp where they were in line saving them a spot. Robert & T got there right when it was time to go on the trail. T seemed brave so Robert let him walk the trail by himself while standing a few feet behind. Whoops! The trail's "haunters" were just kids themselves and they played too much with T by standing in his way not letting him walk by, following him too close and about halfway through the trail T stopped waited for Robert and whispered, "Pick me up." He did the rest of the trail holding Robert and being very polite to the ghosts, goblins and ghouls by saying "No thankyou" whenever they would beckon him to come closer or help them. He said that the trail was too scary and he "didn't want to ever do that again, daddy!"
Beverly met with Jade's teacher this week and had a long discussion of how we want her tested for Dyslexia and other behavioral issues. Beverly & Jefra did another assessment on their own and her behavior is that of a 4 year old. Beverly has often thought that Jade may be a "bit" autistic, so she's hoping to get more answers. The teacher said she'll talk with the school psychiatrist to see what they can do.
At JT's game this past Saturday, her and a friend were playing in the stands and at one point while running away from some wasps her friend ran into the corner of the metal stands. Immediately blood poured down her face from the gash in her forehead. Panic insued, Beverly handed Ally to the mother of the hurt child while she took care of the injured spawn. After T's game we went as a family to the hospital to make sure she was alright. Jade was really worried about her friend. She's already seen a lot of trauma for such a young girl. Last summer the kids watched as Bev had to do CPR on a lady who had a heart attack at a public pool and the year before, while at Summer Camp, a camper was revived by lifeguards after drowning.
Ally is crawling around very well now. She no sooner started crawling and she's already trying to stand and walk! Crazy. She still loves her daddy best and lights up when she sees him. She loves her Johnny Jump Up bouncing chair. She looks like she's dancing the RiverDance!

Ruined Camping Trip
The Biggest news we've had this week is that we went camping on Friday at Emma Long Park here in Austin and at about Midnight we heard JT crying in his Tent. (Bev & Robert were sleeping on cots under the screen house). When we went in there he seemed like he was just cold and apparently they were sleeping in some wet substance. Robert assumed they spilled their "Mango Freeze" from Taco Bell, so he adjusted the kids out of the wet muck, put on a few more blankets then went to bed.
A couple of hours later T began to cry again. This time it occurred to Beverly that he may be sick. He usually cries before he throws up. When Robert got him and asked him if he felt like he was going to throw up, he affirmed that he was going to do just that. As that realization began to sink in, a greater HORROR was beginning to wake up in Beverly's and Robert's minds! You see, Jade doesn't cry when she's about to vomit. Instead she just vomits in her sleep. Doesn't wake up before...or after.
Bev grabbed the light and rushed in to check on Jade. The wet muck the kids were sleeping in was not spilled "Mango Freeze from Taco Bell, it was cold vomit...full of Cheetos, BBQ chips and Mango Freeze. (Robert was in charge of feeding them dinner before camping.)
Emma Long Park is a city park and they lock the gates between 10p and 7a. Beverly called the Park security and asked special permission to unlock the gate so we could take our sick ones home. Fortunately they accommodated us. We left the camp set up at 3 a.m. and just took the kids home. Jade had lots of "stuff" in her hair so we had to bathe her. As she woke up she looked at her hair and said, "I think my hair tried to eat Cheetos!"
If Only.
We cleaned the kids and put them to bed. The funny thing too is that Beverly was dying cuz it was SO cold. (55 degrees) So she wasn't sleeping very much. Robert wasn't sleeping very much cuz the camp next to them had what seemed to be flood lights on in their camp and were making a raucous. As we loaded up in the car to leave, the camp next to us put their lights out! Ugh!
We went back the next morning, the kids feeling well, and packed up our camp.
Memories. :D
